I have two performances coming up within the next month or so.
My setting of High Flight for Baritone voice and String Quartet will be performed by the Finzi Quartet at St Clement Danes Church on Wednesday 26th May, at 6:30 p.m. The piece will be part of a musical commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the battle of Britain, and will be performed to archival footage. It was written for Timothy Connor to sing, but unfortunately he has had to withdraw due to injury. Taking his place will be the very talented Ed Saddington.
In addition, there will be pieces by 5 composition students from Trinity College of Music, each written to accompany a different piece of archival footage. A lot of these films have not been seen for many many years, so it will be a fascinating historical experience as much as a musical one. Here is a link to the poster for more info.
My setting of ‘Eucharist’ for Tenor Voice, Timpani, and String Orchestra, will be performed at the Royal College of Music on Tuesday 1st June at 5 p.m. The concert is the final recital of percussionist Owain Williams, who commissioned the piece to complement the Britten Nocturne he will be performing in the same programme. The poem was written by a very talented writer, Ciorsdan Glass. More details on this performance to follow.
